From January through March 2012 the fifth initiative is dealing with the topic of human rights and the Internet. For this purpose, we have brought together experts from academia, civil society and the private sector with the aim of making a constructive contribution to the discourse through an interdisciplinary discussion. During these three months, a group of 30 experts are conducting analyses and consolidating their findings from the academic debate in order to be able to discuss the interim results with representatives from politics, administration and the general public at the end of March 2012. How can the classic conceptions of human rights be transferred to the internet? Can human rights serve as a basis for global polycentric (internet) governance structures? What contribution can be made by the internet in working for the implementation of human rights?
